Deck building in a budget format such as Clash or Commoner can feel so constraining at times. As the power level drops because of the higher cards leaving the format, it creates new ways to play and new cards begin to shine. With the Hunted coming out, there are new tools to consider as well as places old ones can shine. Here are the top generic cards to consider.

Blade Beckoner

With the introduction of the Hunted came some incredible new equipment. Every single equipment is helpful in some way but none more powerful than the Blade Beckoner set. Incredibly, some of these pieces have started showing up in competitive CC decks. For Commoner and Clash, these are incredible upgrades. Blade Beckoners allow you to block a breakpoint, then in a future turn block a weapon. If you block a weapon first, you get can block 2 immediately. This is a fantastic upgrade to every deck.

Put in Context

Previously we looked at best sideboard cards and this one came up. This is a card that can absolutely be in a mainboard. It does have the limitation on it's blocking, but it's a fantastic card it does not have to be sideboard out for the arcane matchups. In the matchup's that it might not be able to be played, most classes have weapons that meet the criteria since it is only an attack that it needs to block.

Smash Up

Smash Up is a rare so this truly is only in Clash or budget build. With this being a 1 cost card, this can truly fit into any deck. Arsenal disruption is not prevalent in the Clash, but this is an excellent option. It does only target Attack Actions, but that is a lot of what is in the arsenal. Even if it does hit and it is not an Attack Action, it does have to be flipped up so there is no surprise in what is in there.

Nip at the Heels

Another fantastic addition from the Hunted. This is a blue, 3 block with a fantastic effect. While this isn't a fit in every class, it still does work in the classes that you would put it in. The fact that this can be used on weapons is what makes it a fantastic addition.

Humble

Humble has been in the game since Outsiders and many believe it to be a good budget substitute for Command and Conquer. While this is not available in Commoner, it can absolutely be used more in Clash. This could absolutely be mainboard in every clash as if it hits functionally stops their abilities and it is an excellent popper.

Closing Thoughts

The Hunted truly brought some game changing generics. The next time you are building a Clash deck, these should be heavily considered if your class is lacking in an area that you need to fill.
