The Hunted just release this past week and with that comes a new Clash Ban and Restricted list as well as the Clash Bash about to start tomorrow! This is actually an interesting banning and was more of a reaction to the official banning in Classic Constructed. We also wanted to do a pull back of the Special Use Promos as we were able to work with Phillip at Fabrary to make very pointed bans. Additionally the Clash Committee have created a watchlist that will be reviewed every release for potential bans.
Bans
Zephyr Needle
We were already testing Zephyr Needle and seeing it's potential as well as considering what to ban because we could see very clearly that it was going to be an issue. Initially we were looking at 'Up Stick and Run' but after the Classic Constructed ban, that became our target. While typically we don't want to do a snap ban and want to rely on the Watchlist, we wanted to have more time for internal testing before we let this loose. Ira was finally a place that we wanted, so to get power cards like this it was something we didn't want to have happen.
Special Use Promos
Special Use Promos are back to being banned EXCEPT Weapons and Judicators. We wanted to keep the rules of allowing every hero and weapon but had to draw a line on a couple of heroes. Initially we unbanned Special Use Promos because when Blaze was released we had to unleash promos into the wild on Fabrary in order to get her in. We were able to work with Fabrary to do targeted bans and because of this we almost did a full ban but really liked how the Judicators played into the game and decided to keep those in play. You can find the list of Special use Promos at fabtcg.com.
Watchlist
The Clash Committee have started a watchlist that we will vote on every release. I know there will be no surprises on this list and for the sake of full transparencies we have the list in the Clash Document that is easily accessible through the Bold Brew Games discord and it will be kept up to date there. The follow cards are currently on the list.
Bonds of Ancestry
Currently we don't see Bonds of Ancestry as an issue. It is on the list because it can go out of control very quickly. We have been looking at it to be potentially only have Red Bonds of Ancestry to be the only legal copy which would make it similar to a specialization but for a whole class.
Aether Icevein
Iyslander has been a force to be reckoned with. Now with Amp available to Iyslander as well, it only solidifies the need to bring her power level down. The Clash Committee decided not to take action for the HNT season because Iyslander is banned in the upcoming HNT Clash Bash because she was part of the winning team and those 3 heroes become banned in the next season.
Count Your Blessings
As of right now, there is not a deck that breaks this. But the Clash Committee has discussed banning Blue CYB. If there is a deck that becomes problematic, we will be banning at the very least the Blue version of it.
Clash - the best budget format
The Clash Committee has now been involved for a year now and it has been absolutely a blast this past year. We are looking forward to this next year as the community grows we are committed to the goal of making Clash the best budget format. If you interested in being involved, join the Clash community on the discord. We loving hearing everyone's hot takes, frustrations and even what you like about the format and listen to all of our community members as we strive for excellence.
