Clash Deck Tech: Fatigue Briar

BY NATHANIEL DALTON

With the release of Rosetta, the original Aria heroes were able to get some big upgrades. While Fatigue Briar was already really strong, Rosetta allowed her to get improve immensely with new armor pieces and additional life gain. Let's take a quick look at the deck.

The primary cards we gain is new earth cards in order to trigger Decompose and get the new equipment running.

Even though we only have 4 Decompose cards, this deck wants to play a slow, long game, so you will have time to find Cadaverous Tilling and Rootbound Carapace.

Additionally, Sow Tomorrow will go to your banish zone, allowing for you to get to 4 earth in the banish zone on one Decompose and Sow Tomorrow turn. Fruits of the Forest has full rainbow because it allows you get more earth cards in your discard to get Decompose easier and they are great for when you can't use your whole hand or need to gain some life when facing down arcane decks.

This deck is a true fatigue deck. Block out then arsenal a card or swing Dread Scythe if you have a blue in hand that you don't want to arsenal (hint: most blues you don't want to arsenal.) Briar's ability to create an Embodiment of Earth on an attack action's hit is so powerful in this deck as we have stacked it with 3 block NAA's to allow us to have 4 block cards available to us to stop the break points. All of our 3 block NAA's are blue so that we can use them for resources to keep the rotation of them until just the right moment. Only on rare occasions do we actually play them.

We do have the inevitability. We block as much as possible until our endgame so that we can play Evergreen from arsenal and it will go back on the bottom of our deck. At the end of a game when you are swinging 7 damage every turn, it makes it rather difficult for your opponent to block and swing back. If you ever find yourself in a tight spot where you had to use Evergreen in a block, we have Sow Tomorrow and Rites of Replenishment as options to bring it back into our deck which have become increasingly stronger with the inclusion of more Earth cards. Being able to bring back cards like Fruits of the Forest to use as an attack or life gain in addition as a safeguard for Evergreen turns the endgame advantage over to you.

One might think that with all these defense reactions in the deck it might make it susceptible to arcane but currently there is only a couple true arcane heroes. Additionally, this is a blue heavy deck with easy life gain in Fruits of the Forest. It allows you really counter almost everything coming at you, as long as you can get into the late game. Her main weakness, like most control decks, is combo. However, you have the element of surprise on your side as most players will assume that you are an aggro deck and play that way initially.

Fatigue Briar is an incredibly fun and powerful deck. While Clash does have decks like Oldhim and other power house control decks in the format, Briar is still very capable and deserves to be considered next time you play Clash.
