Introduction
FaB Clash is an wonderful, budget friendly format. If you are unfamiliar with the format, please check out this link.
I have been busy doing some behind the scenes updates for the health of the format. In 2024, LSS has stated that there will be 15 new heroes in 2024 alone and with such a big line up I knew that it was time to take steps to make sure the format stays in a good spot. This was something I have been thinking about since ManSant appointed me to head up the format. I'm pleased to announce the start of the Clash Committee.
Clash Committee
From now on, the Clash format will have a Clash Committee. The obvious inspiration for this is formats like MtG EDH that have a committee that oversees the format and have since before it even became an officially sanctioned format in the form of Commander.
Currently we have 3 members, myself (Nathaniel), Ashenwingz and RoeTu (these are their Discord names.) We are open to new members so if you have a passion for Clash and shaping the format, we would love to have you! Any decision that the Committee makes will have to have 2/3rds support to pass for the format. Additionally any sweeping changes to the format are primarily scheduled to the release of a new set but we do reserve the right do an update shortly after a Banned and Restricted from LSS. We do not have any affiliation with LSS, so we want to be able to adapt with new bans if need be. For example, Clash follows all Commoner bans. This past BnR had 2 bans for Commoner. We actually really liked those bans (ones we were already considering) and felt that there was nothing needed from the Committee's side. However, that might not always be the case.
One thing that we want to help rectify is Clash visibility. There is not any data for possible future bans (just emotions really) and there is very little content outside of Sloopdoop's video. This is something we want to fix and part of the plan is to have a fun online Clash league open to anyone!
Clash League
Right now the Clash Committee is working on the details on what this looks like but there are some details I can share! The League would start in February after Heavy Hitters has released so that everyone can use some fun heroes from the set! It will be a special format as well, taking inspiration from other games and Smithel's commoner league. Each play will bring 2 heroes for a best of 3, win with both heroes. I've tested this in local play and it is a ton of fun!
We will have more announcements in the future on more details but know that we are working to make the league very flexible so that it can fit in everyone's lives. Myself and a couple of others will also be putting in prize support to make it the best it can be! This is a casual league so we will do our best to make sure there is drawings for playing in the league, not just for the top winners.
Clash in the Coming Future
We want Clash to be the best casual format. Come check out the discord to chat with other players and make suggestions. This is a format that is for the community, by the community. ManSant has done an amazing job of creating Clash and partnering with Fabrary to support deck building but it is your involvement that will make it the best casual format!
