During the 2024 Christmas season, the new-to-the-scene group calling themselves “Flesh and Scrubs” hosted a holiday event at their local game store in Massachusetts for the community to get together for a Secret Santa where players were assigned to build Clash decks for their recipient. Some players stealthily tried to find what people wanted from their secret deck, whereas other steamrolled heroes that they thought would be fun and unique for people to play. Regardless, boasting a crowd of almost 20 participants, the event was a hit to say the least. The whole day was streamed to their Twitch channel, which can be found here, where the group handed out decks one by one, each explained by their creator as to why it was the perfect fit for them. Once the pleasantries ended, they grabbed their decks and went to their first pairings, where the fun really began.

The room was filled with a roar of laughter and dismay as players went up against cards no one would expect. Everything from troublesome Cracker Baubles to cheeky Lunging Presses were thrown across the table. It was evident that, due to the restrictions of the Clash format, players got creative with their builds. Some, however, might have gotten a little too creative. One member of the Flesh and Scrubs built someone a rather odd take on Verdance, where it was filled with only attack actions, forcing their recipient to think outside the box.

Unfortunately, as much as the group wanted to, not every game could have been streamed. So to make sure every player who wanted their time in the spotlight got their chance, they decided to have a feature match table, where pairings would get to play their matches live on Twitch for the world to see why they’re called “Flesh and Scrubs”. However, matches don’t need to be pretty or elegant to be fun. While on-brand for the group to have a casual approach to a usually more formal type of content, they wanted to really accentuate that with the variety of characters that make up their group and their unique play styles and attitudes that make them stand out from other content creators in the field.

With the matches wrapping up, the players moved to the final portion of their event, which was the Christmas raffle. Players who had accumulated too much product throughout the years, such as playmats, deck boxes, and dice, were all raffled off for players to have a chance to snag and add to their own collection. However, the Grand Prize was a custom, 3D young Oldhim card that was gifted to the Flesh and Scrubs team in the spirit of the holidays. It was made by a member of Bold Brew Games, Nathan. The Scrubs wanted to give Bold Brew Games as well as Nathan a huge thank you for seeing potential in the group and providing such an amazing piece for their group to raffle away.
With their first major event having gone so well, the entire Flesh and Scrubs crew are looking to host more events in the future that will hopefully garner as much appreciation from the Flesh and Blood community as their Christmas Clash has. Don’t forget to stay tuned to their streams to catch their deck techs, hot takes, and further event coverage. If you’re looking for more zany content from the group, their YouTube Channel is full of witty remarks, odd comments, and degenerate gameplay.
